2027 GMC Sierra 1500: What We Know So Far
GMC has pulled the wraps off the next-generation Sierra 1500, and Golling Buick GMC is tracking every confirmed detail for our Lake Orion, Auburn Hills, and Rochester Hills customers. Two new V8 engines, a redesigned cabin, and a six-trim lineup headline the changes. Here's everything GMC has made official, plus what's still to come.
A Ground-Up Redesign for the Sierra 1500
This marks the first full redesign of the Sierra 1500 in nearly a decade, and it lands on an updated version of GM's full-size truck platform. The headline changes are under the hood and inside the cabin: two brand-new sixth-generation Small Block V8 engines join the lineup, and every trim gets a new triple-screen interior. GMC has not released pricing yet, but the first trucks are expected to reach dealerships, including Golling, before the end of 2026.
Engine Lineup: Four Options, Two Are All-New
- TurboMax 2.7L Turbo I-4 — carries over with updates, built for standard-duty towing and daily driving.
- Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel — the segment's only available diesel continues into the new generation.
- New 5.7L V8 — a sixth-generation Small Block, replacing the outgoing 5.3L.
- New 6.6L V8 — the range-topping engine, positioned as the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class and standard on Denali Ultimate.
All four engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Six Confirmed Trims — SLE and SLT Step Aside
GMC is narrowing and rebalancing the trim walk for 2027:

SLE and SLT do not carry over. If either of those trims fits your budget or needs, our current 2026 Sierra inventory is the last chance to get one new.
AT4X: GMC's Most Off-Road-Ready Sierra Yet
The 2027 AT4X steps up its off-road hardware with 35-inch tires (a first for the Sierra), Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers, and front-and-rear locking differentials — a combination GMC says no competitor currently matches. A two-inch suspension lift and an exclusive interior colorway round out the package. For Michigan off-roaders who put trucks through their paces up north, this is the trim to watch.
2026 vs. 2027 Sierra 1500: Which Should You Buy?

When will the 2027 Sierra 1500 arrive at Golling Buick GMC?
GMC has confirmed the first 2027 Sierra 1500 trucks are expected at dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year. We'll update this page and notify our reservation list as soon as we have firmer timing for our Lake Orion allocation.
Will the diesel engine continue?
Yes. The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel remains available alongside the turbo four-cylinder and the two new V8s.
What happened to SLE and SLT?
Those trims are not returning for 2027. Pro, Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate make up the new six-trim lineup.
How much will it cost?
GMC has not released pricing. We'll post trim-level MSRPs as soon as they're official.
